EBURGER Windows Security Utility

EBURGER is a menu-driven batch file utility that allows you to disable, re-enable, or otherwise configure the following aspects of Windows:

  • NetBIOS Over TCP/IP (File & Printer Sharing)
  • Microsoft DCOM
  • Microsoft Jet security
  • Microsoft Windows Script
  • BHO's (Browser Helper Objects)
  • HOSTS file

There is an extensive ReadMe.txt included. Please take the time to read over (or at least peruse) this document before you dive in.

Compatibility:

EBURGER works on:

  • Windows 9x (95, 98, 98SE, ME)
  • Windows NT 4.0 & Windows 2000

Please note that there are several limitations on the use of EBURGER with Windows ME and Windows 2000. See ReadMe.txt for more information.

There are also several pre-requisites for using all the options of EBURGER, all of them are detailed in the ReadMe.txt.

Installation & Use:

Download one of the following files from the Download section below:

  • EBURGER.EXE is a self-extracting .ZIP file, which you can double-click on to extract the files inside (default dir is C:\EBURGER).
  • EBURGER.ZIP requires that you have an "zip/unzip" program like WinZip, 7-Zip, or PowerArchiver to extract the files.

As always, whenever you make extensive changes to your Registry, you should BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST.

Updates:

These files have been signed with with my 4096/1024 DH/DSS PGP key. You can get it and my other PGP keys HERE.

If you're not a PGP user, you don't have to download the PGP signature files (or my PGP public keys) in order to use the utilities that I make available. Windows Script (Host) Uninstaller

The Windows Script (Host) Uninstaller is a batch file utility that will uninstall any version of Windows Script, sometimes known as the Windows Scripting Host. It will uninstall Windows Script (Host) no matter the original source of the installation...

  • Windows Script 5.6 (from microsoft.com)
  • Windows Script 5.5 (from microsoft.com)
  • Windows Script 5.1 (from microsoft.com)
  • Windows Script 5.0 (from microsoft.com)
  • Visual Basic Scripting Support (any version of IE 5)
  • Windows Scripting Host 2.0 beta
  • Windows Scripting Host 1.0 (Windows 98 SE)
  • Windows Scripting Host 1.0 (Windows 98)
  • Windows Scripting Host 1.0

Compatibility:

The Windows Script (Host) Uninstaller can uninstall Windows Script (Host) from the following versions of Windows:

  • Windows 98SE
  • Windows 98 (original or SR1)
  • Windows 95 (any version)
  • Windows NT 4.0 (any service pack level)

This batch file will NOT uninstall Windows Script (Host) from Windows ME or Windows 2000 due to the System File Protection scheme that these versions of Windows employ.

  • WSH-UN.EXE is a self-extracting .ZIP file, which you can double-click on to extract the files inside (default dir is C:\WSH-UN).
  • WSH-UN.ZIP requires that you have an "zip/unzip" program like WinZip, 7-Zip, or PowerArchiver to extract the files.

As always, whenever you make extensive changes to your Registry, you should back up your registry first.
