Hey everyone!

My name's, well, Chris, and I'm a geek.

I'm 18 years old, reside in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, and enjoy long walks on the beach. I hope to someday become a professional studio musician. As for computers, it's only as of late that I've become interested in them - especially after recently enduring a flood of adware/spyware into my computer. Grrr! It happened one fateful Sunday afternoon when my sister was surfing. Since then, I've taken a keen interest in how the whole computer/virus/ad system works.

That said, I love this place! Simply fantastic. Nice layout and great concept. I stumbled upon SWW while searching for information regarding removal of two programs, specifically pup.exe and do.exe. I'm still in the process. Even after downloading Ad-Aware 6 and Spybot S&D. They didn't recognize many of the trojans, dialers, and general crap that was downloaded to my comp involuntarily.

I'm pretty new to computer terminology. But I'm not a stupid newbie (at least, trying not to be). I've read through the introduction threads and board rules. But please be patient if I don't undertstand some terms, especially regarding ME (the current infected OS) which I am not 100% used to.

I have a great respect for all of you, Suzi, and the moderators. (Mods - I have a greater respect for you here than on any other forum. I used to mod www.gbcentral.com , and that place was nothing compared to what maintaining this place looks like. Kudos.) You all must have great patience, and hopefully, through more people like all of you, we can kick Spyware's butt.

Don't worry about being a newbie, or just past newbie, we were all there one time.

You said you are still in the process of removing some stuff... did you run HijackThis and post a log yet? (I haven't looked at all the posts yet - just getting in from a long day. ) If not, you can run HijackThis and post your log. Then we can help you get rid of any junk remaining in your computer.
