Hi Cool , something that caught my eye today when testing out the latest Maxthon browser [ formerly MyIE2 ] was the default search engine "steadysearch" that gets installed , its actually by NavExcel ltd.

Maxthon themselves seem to be interested in keeping their identities private.

Has anyone else tried this browser yet and does anyone have any information on the connections between these two ?

I posted a question on their forum here ,
http://forum.maxthon.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1163

In my opinion it seems to be a suspicious choice of search engine to use as the default , from known browser hijackers.

Hmm, I don't have a copy now. Tried MyIE2 some years ago when it was new.

Like you, I find the association with a browser dev to be a little bizarre and a little incredulous.

At the moment I only see one response to your querry by admin...a somewhat disappointing response.

I seem to remember that MyIE2 was just a shell for the IE engine...is that still true?

Thanks Mikey , yes as far as I can see its still only a shell for IE.

Well at least they arent prejudiced , there is also a plugin for ucmore toolbar and Alexa Razz , hardly major threats but makes me curious.
