Here's a chuckle for everyone. I got this in a newsletter today.

Someone named Pat sent this to the editor:

"Americans: Spend most of their lives glued to the idiot box.
Canadians: Don't, but only because they can't get more American channels.
Brits: Pay a tax just so they can watch four channels.
Aussies: Export all their crappy programs, which no-one there watches,
to Britain, where everybody loves them.

Americans: Will jabber on incessantly about football, baseball, and
basketball.
Brits: Will jabber on incessantly about cricket, soccer, and rugby.
Canadians: Will jabber on incessantly about hockey, hockey, hockey,
hockey, and how they beat the Americans twice, playing baseball.
Aussies: Will jabber on incessantly about how they beat the Poms in
every sport they play them in.

Americans: Spell words differently, but still call it "English".
Brits: Pronounce their words differently, but still call it "English".
Canadians: Spell like the Brits, pronounce like Americans.
Aussies: Add "G'day", "mate" and a heavy accent to everything they say
in an attempt to get laid.

Americans: Seem to think that poverty & failure are morally suspect.
Canadians: Seem to believe that wealth and success are morally suspect.
Brits: Seem to believe that wealth, poverty, success and failure
are inherited things.
Aussies: Seem to think that none of this matters after several beers."

@Dave:

I have no clue. Never played it.

@Acsell:

5 channels, now? Great!

Yes, I knew it was football to y'all on that side of the Pond. Didn't think to change it. Only copied and pasted from the newsletter.

But Pink Floyd talked about this back in 1973.
"14 channels of sh*t to choose from..."

And what the heck 'is' Hockey?

Brits play 'Rounders'. We invented Baseball.
Americans changed the rules.

We also coined the phrase "that's not cricket"

I think the Aussies made some excellent movies. Jenny Agutter is a goddess, and she's an Aussie.

Oh, and what words from the American Indian lexicon are in Mirriam-Webster's?

Sorry, but I find Cultural Homor questionable.

I didn't find it particularly offensive, but as an Aussie I really can't recall having ever said "G'day" in an attempt to get laid....and I say "G'day" often. Laughing

Beer? Tastes just as crappy there as it does here in the US. (Yep, I do live in the US.)

Crappy television programs? Perhaps. Most of them are imported from the US. Aussie commercials are funnier than h*ll though. Very Happy
