Curious to know what people think about Webroot's Spy Sweeper? I don't see it being recommended that much but have heard solid things.

I have it, and use it regularly, along with AdAware and Spybot too. No conflicts here. Can't have enough on your machine. The latest version even has a 'Favs' alert, along with a registry alert, as Spybot and AdAwarePlus have.

I recommend it to those who want to pay for more protection. I either have them buy that, or upgrade to AdAwarePlus.

great back up product
I get some false positives
download the free trial and try it
YOU ONLY GET ONE UPDATE with the free trial
but will actually remove things
and
even the free trial version has the prevention tools
then
also try
pest patrol
and
Aluria
the free versions will not fix anything but may find some leftovers
WATCH FOR FALSE POSITIVES
Google anything you're not sure of
or post it here

When cleaning up an garbage system I use internet sweeper then on line virus scan, then x-cleaner
then ad-aware, spybot second, webroot spy sweeper third
Then a trojan scan or another on-line virus scan depending on what I'm finding
firewall , IE-spyads, HOSTS file are also required
then spyware doctor and aluria if dap or other garbage found.
