Help BleepingComputer Defend Freedom of Speech

Please read
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/announcement/frivolous-lawsuits/help-bleepingcomputer-defend-freedom-of-speech/

Enigma Software has a long history of sending Cease and Desist letters and filing lawsuits in an attempt to censor and bully people into removing reviews or opinions about their products.
In 2004 they sent a Cease & Desist letter to this site. In 2007 they posted this thread to discuss SpyHunter and the community's opinion about it.

Ben Edelman lists Enigma on his page Threats Against Detectors, Removers, and Critics
http://www.benedelman.org/spyware/threats/ There are 2 entries regarding Enigma Software, one in 2007 and one in 2004.

Please support the malware and computer help community by supporting Bleeping Computer. I have known Grinler, founder of Bleeping Computer, for many years now. He's been a member here since 2004. Grinler and BleepingComputer are extremely reputable and provide outstanding help to the community.

I have read the thread Enigma are suing for and find it to be a fair and balanced review.

Comments welcome.

It's pretty obvious that Enigma have no real case against BC, and this is just an attempt to subdue criticism of a program that a great many people consider to be sub-standard.

It's a shame Enigma don't spend as much time trying to improve their products and sales practices, as they spend in court trying to suppress objective reservations about their software.

Yes, I absolutely agree. Enigma have been doing this kind of thing for years now.

Enigma pays a very high affiliate commission, 75% on a sale. Most reputable affiliate programs pay in the range of $18 - 30%. This might explain the questionable behavior of some of their affiliates.

The following 2 articles I think give people a very good idea of what sort of company Enigma is ....

http://secur-info.blogspot.co.uk/
http://www.csoonline.com/article/3029975/techology-business/spyhunter-anti-malware-maker-files-lawsuit-over-bad-review.html

.... the first is a long read, but very educational. Wink

Yes I agree. The thread here of 2007 is telling about how they operate. I linked to it in my first post in this thread.

I remember the "discussion" well. I didn't get involved in it personally, but I certainly kept in touch with it when it was happening.

Reading through it now, I see so many once familiar names that are sadly no longer as active as they once were.
