Hi guys,

My Dad has caught a virus just 3 days Evil or Very Mad after buying his brand new PC. He knows nothing about computers so I'm heading over to help him fix it tomorrow.
All he could tell me was that he was browsing a real estate website when a message popped up that said "spyware detected - click here to remove" and suddenly Norton AV reported lots of viruses. One of them could not be removed - and he's still getting that spyware message. Any ideas which virus he has? He can't remember the name of it.
As far as I know, he doesn't have a spyware detector - unless the latest Norton suite has one. I was hoping someone might recognise it and give me a head start on fixing the problem.

Thanks iceblue. Smile

I'll do that after I take a look at it.
It was set up for him by the guys at Harvey Norman... so it probably has zero security.

F#(king Harvey Norman!

It was the W32/Sasser.worm.b
He also had the Teknum updater spyware.
Harvey Norman had put Norton 2003 on there and the system was completely unpatched and the Internet connection firewall turned off.
I removed the Sasser worm with Stinger from Network Associates and then removed Teknum with Spybot S & D.
I installed Mozilla Firefox, Zonealarm 4.5, Avast 4 anti virus, Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard plus Lavasoft Adaware.
I updated all these, scanned with everything then activated resident protection on everything.
I think he will be secure now! Smile
