That's pretty bizarre, isn't it... _________________ Former Microsoft MVP 2005-2009, Consumer Security

| I know when I use my cell phone, I never get that problem(seeing I am on Sprint), but I have to wonder if that problem may have been on AT&T's end, knowing the provider goes though the 3G smart phones, that would be questionable, and get the FCC's attention.. |

Hmmm, well...

AT&T spokesman Michael Coe said its wireless customers have landed in the wrong Facebook pages in "a limited number of instances" and that a network problem behind those episodes is being fixed.
The Sawyers experienced a different glitch, however.
Coe said an investigation points to a "misdirected cookie." A cookie is a file that some Web sites place on computers to store identifying information -- including the user name that Facebook members would enter to access their pages. Coe said technicians couldn't figure out how the cookie had been routed to the wrong phone, leading it into the wrong Facebook account. |
An extremely geeky friend of mine commented very casually "Meh, this should be easy to replicate on any carrier network". Luckily he's not the type who has any interest in doing so (and not just because he's a good guy - which he is - but because as a challenge this bored him instantly). Hopefully these technicians figure out how to get a lid on the cookie jar before those who are interested get their hands in it. That within my limited social circle I personally know even one person capable of exploiting this tells me there's a heck of a lot more out there equally capable. And not nearly as nice. _________________ - Datababe
