i have a virus which is ~tmp.exe. there was some kind of video plyer similar to youtube which said i need to download a software. when i did so,i have been getting a message "you have a security problem" which keeps popping up every now and then. the location it was in was documents/local settings/temp. i tried AVG and avast anti viruses and both dont detect the virus. i tried searching on the net and tried everything but no use. what can i do to remove this virus? the pop up comes on the bottom right side tray, and i have to click each time to continue typing. i tried to delete the file but it says "denied"

Post a HijackThis log in the HijackThis logs - help with spyware removal forum and wait to be assisted by a helper.

If you don't have a current copy of HJT.

Download HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.

  • Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Copy/Paste the log to the HJT forum please.
  • Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
  • Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
