I'm wondering if IE-spyad is obsolete or abandoned? I haven't seen an update since Feb 5, 2008, which is a LONG time ago.

Any tool such as IE-SPYADS needs frequent updating to stay effective. Especially in this day and age with the way malware guys shut down sites or switch them up. And I'm not even talking about fast flux. You can't keep up with them at all.

I no longer recommend users install it.

It was an absolute must have but at this point I can't see it being of much actual protection without regular updating. Much like hosts files, at least once per month is the only way to go.

Maybe someone will step up to take over the updating.

Folks:

IE-SPYAD is horribly out of date. Unfortunately, I simply don't have time to update it at present, and I have no expectation that I will be able to update it in the near future.
