hi there. it's been a while since i had to post.
i am convinced that the sluggishness with my PC is due to errors/problems with my registry.
i have done every scan i could possibly think of. they are as follows:
Spybot S & D, AdAware, AVG Anti-Virus, Kaspersky, Bitdefender and a few others. they have reported nothing suspicious.
i have run free scans for various registry cleaners and one of them had as many as 988 errors.
here are the questions i have:
1. are there any reliable registry cleaners that i could use for
FREE to see if that speeds up my PC?
2. if i have to pay, could you recommend a reliable one?
willing to listen to any suggestions you may have on the issue.
thanks,
thunder |

The usefulness of registry cleaners is debatable. Personally I don't use them except on rare occasions. There is also the potential for harm.
There are lots of other reasons your computer can be slow... too many programs running in the background, not enough RAM, the use of programs that index all the files on your PC like Microsoft Windows Search Indexer and Google Desktop search. Some security suites are notable for showing down systems also.
Here is some excellent information on how to speed up your computer.

I must clean the registry since I install and unistalled the same program over and over and the problem is not fixed...I have tried forums, gurus and also spiritual help, non of this has worked, I´m willing to clean the registry as my last effort before resetting my OS.
Regards. |

What kind of errors are coming up? From your post, it could be any of several scenarios. Possibly a failure to register a dll.
Most of the time in these type situations, it is simply a bad pathway causing the reg item to become orphan or malformed. The uninstall routine might not recognize it to remove...yet the install fails to correct.
In a scenario like this, a good reg cleaner can be benefitial. However, I advise only repairing any item/s that is directly related to the ware you are attempting to fix. It is not wise to let any reg cleaner "fix" any item without the human touch...much less the boat load of items generally found in the average scan.
