|
There was a discussion on here awhile back about some sites blocking acces to FireFox. Well I just found a website that blocks access to Internet Explorer:
When I went to http://www.slated.org I was redirected to the folliwng page:
http://static.slated.org/killbillsbrowser.html which told me to ditch internet explorer and change to FireFox.
I use Maxthon 2 as my browser which is based on Internet Explorer.
While I do acknowledge that FireFox is more secure than Internet Explorer- I personally prefer Maxthon over FireFox. Maxthon works exactly how I want it to - and while I no doubt could get FireFox to work the same - I'm certain I would neeed additonal addons to do it, where as the default Maxthon setup works just fine for me.
The only change I've made to Maxthon is to set it up so that I can do a Google search by typing the search into the address bar and then pressing Alt + Enter.
I do have FireFox installed but I only use it on the odd occasion. |

| The website has been really badly coded if it thinks all browsers other than FireFox are Internet Explorer! I'm not sure about this but quite possibly Maxthon identifies itself as Maxtion rather than Internet Explorer in which care should not be picked up as Internet Explorer. |

What the hell is Maxthon?
I'm strongly pro-Firefox, but the only reason there could be for this is if the site displays properly only with Firefox, either way. |

| Maxthon is an Internet Explorer based browser, just like many other web browsers. It has a lot more features than Internet Explorer, but to put it simply Internet Explorer is used to display webpages. |

Any site that "displays properly only with Firefox" says more about the web dev's poor coding skills than anything else (millions of sites work just fine in ALL browsers). If you can't get a site to work in all browsers, don't bother creating it until you can learn how to do it properly. _________________ Regards
