A war of words has broken out within the affiliate marketing community over the growing problem of spyware/adware products, which affiliates claim are threatening the model and impacting ROI.
Affiliates are reporting that an increasing number of adware companies are joining networks as affiliates and 'hijacking' their click-throughs. This is done at the point of sale, either through software that places an ad of a competitor in front of an affiliate's own Web site or overwrites the affiliate's links and takes the commission.
Eight UK networks, including Dealgroupmedia, Buy.at, Affiliate Window and Affiliate Future, have already banned these products from being used on their networks. But the two biggest networks, Commission Junction and TradeDoubler, are refusing to bow to pressure to follow suit.
TradeDoubler did release an addendum to its affiliate marketing agreement last week, however, setting out strict guidelines on how adware products are used and putting processes in place to try and protect affiliates. |

I likes dat as the more they talk about this stuff, they leave trails of names, domains, and other good data in order for us to recognize them and add them to alerts so users won't get caught in an infestation of adware.......... _________________ Wächter der Geschichten:
