Blender- you are the very best. if you ever come across this place, i'd like to thank you for all the help. I've wanted to be a spyware/virus researcher since i was in 3rd grade, ever since a lil a
incident with spyware. Here is the big story:
i never used any antivirus/ antispyware thing be4 cuz i never thought id need it. i was wrong. i was surfing the internet for info on Confucius (project). clicked on a random website. KABOOM! lots of popups and then my browser shut down. after i closed the popups, i found SpywareStrike2.5 on my desktop with to links to online "security" pages. a popup in the system tray told me to install Winfixer. and so i did. *sniff* then i found out my homepage was hijacked. my friend gave me mcafee av to scan with. it found new poly something. my friend's dad recomended yahoo antispy and ad-aware. ad-aware found 123 pieces of things. antispy found quite a few too. ever since that day, i decided to get back at those ppl by killing their adware business and eliminating spyware and viruses. |

Hi
Thank you for the kind words.
Your first experience with malware sounds kinda like mine. Also part of the reason I like to help others with their malware issues.
If you are interested in learning how to fight this stuff and helping others you may want to join the Malware Removal University here:
http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=233
That link explains what the site is about & how to join.
Alot of very good people to learn from there.
A fair bit of work involved but is alot fun at times too.
A self paced learning environment.
Hope to see you there. _________________ Never give up!

Well...something to keep in mind a couple years down the road.
I can't see the site going away anytime soon. It will likely be bigger & better then.
Another good way you can help out is to tell your friends what you have learned here and tell them how to protect themselves from infections.
Spyware, viruses, trojans, etc are not going to go away any time soon.
Yes I have another job. I do this in my spare time. _________________ Never give up!

Hey
Apparently no age limit to learn there. Why not sign up and give it a go. This is a good oppertunity to see if it is something you will really want to do.
You should tell them how old you are because there may be some permissions you will need to get from your parents. The forum will advise you if this is necessary.
Because the people there are of all ages and learning speeds the teachers can tailor answers to questions the students have so everyone can understand.
This is not the same kind of University like what you likely will be doing after done high school.
All ages there. Older retired people, young people like yourself and everyone in between.
If you decide you don't like it there is no hard commitment to stay.
Do make an honest effort though. _________________ Never give up!

Hey
If you join up at the university they have sample logs and stuff and train you on what to look for.
You learn how to understand the complaints the victims have and how it can help you to figure out what infection they have. Or at least where to start looking.
All this takes time to learn though. won't happen overnight.
I been at this for about 5 years and still have lots to learn.
Looking at the sample logs at the university is prolly one of the better ways to go because its all laid out how the infections are recognised, how they know what the infections are..
You learn the more efficient ways of searching for needed info, learn who the experts are so you know you have trustable info. After all you don't want to tell someone to delete something off their computer unless you are sure it is bad!
When I started out there were hardly any malware schools...I started mostly on my own. (hard to do!)
With the schools you learn good habbits right from the beginning and don't have to re-learn like I did.
anyway....Go to the University! And have fun learning. _________________ Never give up!
