Looks like another bad day for 180 Solutions.
After Mike Burgess highlighted a new install doing the rounds, some of us in the security community have been playing with it and the results are pretty shocking, in an "oh no not again" kind of way. |

wyrmrider,
Good question. The Yapbrowser sites seem to be down now, but I can't wait to hear the 180 spin. _________________ Former Microsoft MVP 2005-2009, Consumer Security

If you look on PG's haloscan. A good friend of mine thinks there may be a russian mafia connection.
He has been digging around. Have to wait and see his findings. If this is true. I think 180's spin would be even more interesting. _________________ Andrew Kleijn

someone posted on my site that the images were child *nudity* and not child *pornography*, citing some email he'd been sent by the fbi.
thats great, but doesnt take into consideration the fact that the internet is one of those world wide web thingies, and so every country will have their *own* opinion of what is legal and illegal.
some countries will say that ANY picture of someone underage with no clothes on is illegal, regardless of context. others still will say that a picture is illegal where the person in the picture is implying that they are under age, but are in fact over 18. its a lot less cut and dried than some email from a fed who probably didnt know what they were talking about.
however you dress it up, its pictures of kids with no clothes on. in these cases, the *intent* is everything. and its painfully obvious to me what the intent in this case is.
inexcusable, indefensible and probably something else beginning with "i".
scum through and through. |

Russian mafia - CoolWebSearch gang -- all the same.
Did you read SunbeltBlog's write up and the Russian document they posted?
http://sunbeltblog.blogspot.com/2006/04/stay-far-away-from-yapbrowser.html
This is really chilling -- the conversation is about yapbrowser and how they will install nasty spyware -- a document written in Russian and translated by someone at Sunbelt:

Well I can truely say this, this new thing came at the wrong time a new VX2 virant was found which I looked at that other topic, apparently we got a problem now, because if this new thing add something from CWS, it is bound to Exploit VX2 no matter the case, and I have a feeling that could be possible.
Thus another lawsuit comming for 180. |

Thought I'd add this - the UA site hosting the images has apparently gone kablammo.

With any luck, they'll stay down, too. |
