I ran across these 2 sites today. Haven't checked them, but since they're by Ashley Russell, I assume they are rogue.
http://www.ad-where.com/
http://www.adwarespyware.net/
Anyone tested them yet?
Thanks,
mQQse |

mQQsehead:
Thanks for the pointer. I will check them out.
The adwarespyware.net site is a known PAL Spyware Remover affiliate. The other is new (relatively speaking) to me.
Best,
Eric L. Howes

Hi All:
This is indeed yet another member of the AdwareX Eliminator family, though Ad-Where 2005 is one of the newer variants that we started seeing in late August/early September of 2004:
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/family_resemblances.htm#3
It uses an outdated database (dated August 23, 2004). When you hit the Update button, the application falsely reports that the database has been updated. In fact, it's the same database as before with a new file date/time.
Ridiculous false positives are a hallmark of the applications in this family, and Ad-Where 2005 is no different, generating 28 false positives on a spyware/adware-free system. This application does include a pop-up disclaimer box warning users about potential false positives, but most users won't be able to distinguish legitimate detections from false positives.
Also of note, the home page for Ad-Where 2005 sees the return of RoboCyberBabe, whom we last saw plugging Consumer Identity. See this DSLR thread for the hots on RoboCyberBabe:
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,11009455~mode=flat
So, Ad-Where 2005 brings us up to 143 listed applications on the Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware page.
Best,
Eric L. Howes |

Yeah, he's the same idiot that had his lawyers send me a cease and desist order when I put an independent review of his software on my blog (Remember I told you I was doing one Eric? That's why you never got to see it, it was up for less than two days and I promptly was served a notice under the DMCA, as was my webhost and ISP). He took offense when I called bullshit on his software I guess. Then again, he also took offense when I would give my honest reviews of his software on his own websites (To the point where everytime I would swap proxy IPs and email addresses to retort to his latest round of bullshit, he would delete the comments and ban the IP/email address).
To whit, the dude is a money-grubbing imbecile.

Errr.... Mqqsehead, you double-posted. OK since my acount will be dead in 4 days (I'm about to be banned for violating the age-verification; I'm too young), I might as well make a difference before I go. Ashley Russel is starting to become an affiliate for dishonest sites? Hmm........ I'll just counter him by flaming his eMail; I'll just spam him up SO bad that he'll get a taste of his own medicine.
Dang....... I'm about to be banned from SWW forums... I guess I'll just sign up on SpywareGuide; It seems to be pretty popular... Then I'll sign up for Castlecops and Geekstogo. |

Well, that's it for you. Advocating flaming and spamming is a no no. Also, you have repetedly admited that you are under 13 and haven't provided the proper form to the site for under 13 posters, and have been posting nonsense posts lately. You never did reply to the PM I sent about posting in the HJT forums where you offered very bad advice. Since you have made no effort to comply with the rules, your account will be deactivated. _________________ Nick's Security Ticker
