| Nope, no luck with the extracting. It says its an .exe file, but when I go to open it, it just flashes really quick and disappears. |

Good, so is pskill.exe
If it says it is pskill.exe and gives you a flash, that's right. It's a command line tool and must be called from a command prompt.
I am not sure we are going to have success, but give me a few minutes to review the logs again and then I'll be back, |

Ok It didn't work and I have a feeling there may be more files around.
But let's try one more time and see how it goes.
Reboot to Safe mode.
Run the killbox from start >run as before:
Select kill explorer and then standard file kill.
Paste in this path. If not successful, then select delete on reboot and paste it in again.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\rttd.exe
Same for these files:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\innrmm.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\picsvr\picsvr.exe
Restart back into safe mode again.
Delete this folder:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\picsvr
go to start>Run and type
%temp%
Press enter.
Select all and delete all.
Run hijackthis and fix these items:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [picsvr] C:\WINDOWS\system32\picsvr\picsvr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\innrmm.exe
Restart into regular Windows mode and run hijackthis again.
Post a new log.
Let me know if you're still here before you try these instructions. If you respond, I'll wait for you to come back. |

| As an aside, it would seem that find-qoologic failed. Either there was a problem with the download or all the files were not extracted correctly. We'll pick it up tomorrow and see what's going on then. |

We knew this wouldn't work. The problem is that as I said before, find-qoologic didn't work.
Please download it again. That's the File Calamity Jane asked you to download. Open the folder it contains. Create a new folder on your desktop and extract each of the files in the zip, one at a time to the new folder. Then run the batch again. BUT RUN IT IN SAFE MODE. We'll see if that works.
Also please download this one:
http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip
Create a new folder c:\Antispyware\RKFiles
Extract the contents of RKFiles.zip into the new folder you just created.
Restart to safe mode.
Open the C:\Antispyware\RKFiles folder
Double click on RKFILES.BAT
Give it time to run. this may take a while.
Save the text file it creates.
It should save by default to C:\Log.txt
Restart into regular Windows mode and post the contents of C:\log.txt
Post the find-qoologic result
And a new hijackthis log please.
I'll be back in several hours. |

Copy the contents of the Code Box to Notepad.
Name the file out.reg
Save as Type: All files
Save on the desktop.
| Code: |
REGEDIT4
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\b9e56e72-83a2-4fc4-895a-8fae8ec04f2b]
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\b9e56e72-83a2-4fc4-895a-8fae8ec04f2b]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\mqqgttgk]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{bf9bcc12-da18-41b6-8881-52dbc7b965c7}]
|
Double click on out.reg and say yes to the prompt to enter into the registry.
----------------
Run the Killbox.
Check the following boxes:
Standard File Kill
End Explorer Shell While Killing file
Copy and paste these paths, one at a time into the Killbox:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WMCONFIG.CPL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\SGGPHHP.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WINUP2~1.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\DOOCRRC.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\INNRMM.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WVVQB.DAT
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WMCONFIG.CPL
C:\docume~1\alluse~1\startm~1\programs\startup\RTTD.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\daanp.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\innrmm.exe.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\MKKAH.DLL
Click the Red Button to delete after each path is entered. Say yes when asked for confirmation.
Some will not be deleted. You'll get a message for those.
Open notepad and paste in the path to the files that Killbox couldn't delete.
For the files you were unable to delete use delete on reboot like this:
Open Killbox
Check the following boxes:
Delete on Reboot
Say no when prompted to reboot.
Finish entering all the file names and on the last, say yes to reboot.
Reboot into Safe mode.
Double click on out.reg again. Say yes when prompted.
Run Hijackthis and fix these entries if still present:
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\innrmm.exe
Anything you may see in the 04 labeled as Global Startup.
Run find-qoologic again in Safe mode .
Restart into Regular Windows.
Post the log from find-qoologic along with a new Hijackthis log when you get back into windows.
Credit for this file find and removal method goes to Yellowhammer et al. |

| Every time I try to open Notepad, I get an error box saying "Problem with Shortcut"- insert disk into drive or establish connection. I am able to save the code box to Wordpad, but there is no file option for "all files". |

Are you trying to open Notepad from Start >Programs >Accessories? The shortcut may be fried.
Delete that shortcut.
Then open the accessories folder on your Programs menu.
Open this folder:
C:\windows
Find notepad.exe and right click on it. Choose create Shortcut.
Finally, move the shortcut to The Accessories folder. |

We have a little to do.
See if you can manually delete these files and let me know:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\DOOCRRC.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\INNRMM.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WVVQB.DAT
DO NOT RESTART the computer!
Copy the content of the Code box to notepad.
Name the file more.reg
Save as Type: All files
Double click on more.reg and say yes to the prompt to enter into the registry:
| Code: |
REGEDIT4
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\98e412bb-20d2-4976-8ee3-7983390e7b72]
|
Post back your result. |

If they were visible, that's one good sign. If they allowed a delete even better. I saw nothing in your running processes which is why they were visible, I think.
It looks good. Empty your Recycle bin and temp folder again.
You may as well fix this entry too:
O23 - Service: YHI - Unknown owner - C:\DOCUME~1\jps\LOCALS~1\Temp\YHI.exe (file missing)
Let's test this after you do that. Do a full restart and run Hijackthis once more. we'll see if you are clean.

Okay- Doing that stuff now.
Also, can you tell me how I can get McAfee to stop asking me to accept cookies for everything? It does this on every page I go to...and even asks me for acceptance of cookies for pop-ups. Thanks |

I don't run McAfee. Are you sure it's McAfee asking? Other programs do that too.
If it is Mcaffee open the main program and look around for a cookie setting. It is probably set to prompt. |

The log looks clean.
Let's flush your restore points and then discuss security.
Once you have rebooted a time or two, be sure everything is in working order. It is time to flush your system restore points. Once you do that you will not be able to correct any problems you may have now by going back to a point before today.
After something like this it is a good idea to Flush the Restore Points and start fresh.
To flush the XP system Restore Points.
Go to Start>Run and type msconfig Press enter.
When msconfig opens, click the Launch System Restore Button.
On the next page, click the System Restore Settings Link on the left.
Check the box labeled Turn off System restore.
Reboot. Go back in and Turn System Restore Back on. A new Restore Point will be created.

In addition, you do not have a popup stopper? I use the free popup stopper which comes with the google toolbar. But you do need something.

I use the privacy tab on IE to set mine. Try High or Medium high.
If high is too strict, set to Medium high. |

Yes, I do have a pop up blocker....I think it wasn't working when I became infected. It is on now, with a medium-high setting (IE privacy tab).
I did the system restore points flush. Now, can I get rid of all these things I have downloaded (i.e. qoologic, killbox, etc), or is it better to keep them? |

You can remove those. Hopefully you won't need find-qoologic again.
Killbox is always used to remove infections. I would keep it. It's handy. But you can also remove it.
Did you get the other installs here?
