This is Robert aka Robo799, I posted my first HJT log a week or two ago, it's on the second page entitled "THere's my first HijackThis Log, haven't done anything yet" The topic has been closed for almost a week now. I had a few questions that I can probably find the answer myself on but I posted them on that thread hoping to get pointed to a tutorial that would cut down on my search time for the anwers.

TeMerc's last reply simply said the topic was resolved, which was true and I didn't get the impression that he even read my questions. There wasn't any answer or indication that he was interested in at least telling me why he didn't answer. I let is slide a while while I've searched through the links in the "required links" page. I just assumed he knew I would eventually find them.

I'm not angry and I don't want to come across as ungrateful, but It would be great to at least get some kind of answer even if it's just an iindication that I need to find the answers myself.

I have plenty of other projects going on, but I'm seriously interested in learning to be more useful around here instead of depending on your collenctive generosity.

I'll go ahead and study the other HJT logs and the solutions to get some clues about what to look for, what's good n bad etc. When I have questions I'll try to find a more appropriate forum to post them at.

Thanks for reading.
Robo

OK, one thing you need to know, is while I was posting answers to all your questions, and previewing my replies, I saw all of this you added, after your original post:

Quote:
PPS I found some good tutorials in those links posted at the bottom of your post. Thanks.

PPPS I found the Backup modifications files after reading on the HJT tutorial forum. "how to analize your own log" Sheesh...

Yep, I feel dumb now lol.

So, what would you have expected me to do at this point? Go ahead and asnwer all your questions after you had indicated you had figured them out on your own? I have absolutely no problem explaining things to anyone who asks, regardless of the question. Many times I wind up spending 30-40 minutes on a simple question, trying to make it so a user can understand it.

So, I really don't understand the beef here at all. I saw no point in explaining everything to you, after you found the answers yourself.

I think I need to think more before I post any questions and make sure I don't already have access to the answers. I have quite a few things going on, and I wish I would have been more clear. Sorry you ended up working on helping me only to find out I thought I found the answers. I can understand your frustration, I came across pretty confuzed and unorganized to say the least. That's only because I'm confuzed and unorganized!! lol

Seriously I don't have a beef with anyone who's willing to help a total stranger. Expecially when you helped me so quickly. I just want to thank you TeMerc. I'll be bummed if I upset you. I'm guessing you're pretty patient, or you wouldn't be here. In the future I'll be sure my post says exactly what I mean before I click "Submit" It's as simple as just slowing down in my case. It can take me 30 or 40 minutes making sure a post is clear too, and I really struggle with that still.

I think in the future you'll realize I'm not the kind of person who get's pissed off about little things. I make my share of mistakes and most of the time I learn from them. I hope you understand that I realize it was my mistake on this topic, not yours.

This is not an excuse, but I've been learning to use Macintosh computers the last year, and recently decided I need to learn windows XP because my daughter's having problems with malware etc. I'd like to be able to help her and I've started to with minor success. Maybe I'm putting myself under too much pressure and that's why I make mistakes like this one. It's a lot of work learning several programs, OP's, networking, rebuilding my web site (it's huge) and trying to improve my communication skills at the same time. I won't let my problems become your problems TeMerc, sound good? No hard feelings here my future warrior friend.

Take it easy.

Robert.
