Wawadave – I saw that you missed introductions from new members. OK, here goes...
I’m a (very) former civil engineer, and a not quite so former expert on hardware. Not computers, but a much harder kind of hardware. After quitting the numbingly boring field of engineering, I’ve been journalist, photographer, editor and so on. That lead to PCs, DOS 3.1, Word Perfect, Ventura, Gem, Windows 286 (gee...), and on to Quark, Photoshop, Windows 98, etc. After Extended and Expanded and editing tiny segments of RAM, and High, Umb and cursing drivers and incompatibility... I admit it – I like Windows and PnP. It gave us something resembling a standard.
These days I write an occasional article for magazines, and in my spare time, which is most of it, help people get rid of malware and set up defences. So far it’s been simple jobs, but time consuming because I know too little. That’s why I’m here often, reading logs and instructions and admiring your experts.
Which brings me to...
I’ve introduced myself – now let me introduce you to Spyware Warriors. The helpers here are courteous, patient and extremely competent. I visit most of the forums, and SW is my favourite for the reasons just mentioned. You have a special spirit and atmosphere I admire and enjoy. And when a ’patient’ sends in an HJT log filling three pages and choked with – excuse me, self inflicted crap - you keep on being polite and congratulate him on a job well done, even though you did the job and he barely managed to follow orders. That’s just great. Mature is perhaps a better word.
Enough. I’m a writer, so I tend to ramble. _________________ Salud y pesetas y amor... |

Hi vesper, you sound like we have a bit in common, I am older[58], have a LOT of time on my hands, and have been into computers a long time. One thng I do like is that people don't just put up with things like spyware. If enough people get involved, things have a much better chance of changing. I love being online, and am bothered with all the Malware you run into, it used to be just Virus stuff, but as all things, it has evolved into what we see now. yeh, I ramble also, but try not to get carried away, dosen't always work, but I try...
This is a good forum, and a good cause, I know people are finding the malware is getting naster by the day.
maybe, just maybe, we will prevail....

Cool stuff said in your post, I write much too much as you will notice upon reading. It is nice to see that some take pride in it, many do not but it is accepted due to the fast paced Internet Mudway. Sarcasm, I never do that.
So many acronyms developed in cyberspace it is hard to read. Perhaps in the future we will see dictionaries like this:
LOL pncd ~ l `o`l xprsn 1- laugh. 2- luck.

You mean something like these:
Internet Acronyms Dictionary
Acronym Server
Acronym Search
Stands4
I heard rumor that webster was printing one. Don't know for sure.
