|
|
Today, someone hacked my Facebook account and used my profile to post loads of malicious links + porn on my friends' walls. I changed my password the moment I found out, but the hacking continued. I had to report the incident to FB team. But I'm not sure if my account has been returned yet, how to find out if it's safe to use now???
I wonder how she could possibly hack me while my computer has AVG, Ad-aware, and Firewall on. Please teach me some tips/tricks to prevent potential hacker!!!
Second, how to report this hacker to the police?? Would the police care? |

You should look on Facebook's site for information about securing your profile and what to do if your account gets hacked. I don't use Facebook, but I'm pretty sure they have information to help you.
Why do you say "she"? What makes you think the hacker was a she? I doubt they hacked your computer, why do you say that?
The best thing is to have good strong passwords. And don't use the same password on multiple sites. Have a unique password for Facebook, one that can't be guessed. Don't use your dog's name or anything that someone who knows you, or who may have read information you posted about yourself online could figure out. _________________ Former Microsoft MVP 2005-2009, Consumer Security

Hi Suzi,
I said "she" because she (or at least that's how her name appears) posted a Youtube link (or how it appeared) on a Facebook fan club. When I opened the link, my computer got Trojan viruses, then the hacker used MY account to post porns & malicious links on other people's profiles (I think it's called "phishing"?). After I reported the incident to FB team, my account has been suspended (at least having it suspended stopped her from further abusing it). Now FB gives me the option to retrieve my account by putting in a new password, but I'm not sure if my computer is free from virus yet (because if it's still infected, there's a chance she will steal my account again). Yesterday I posted a topic asking for help to remove these malwares; I hope someone could help me: http://spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php?t=32312 |

It looks like you have a Vista 64 bit system. Unfortunately the helpers here generally do not work on them because the malware removal tools are not reliable on 64 bit computers.
You can try downloading and running MalareBytes and removing anything it finds.

Or, if no one has answered your log in a couple of days, you could try posting at another forum that might be able to help more than we can. Under section 4 on this page, there are links to several other good help forums.

Were you asked to enter your facebook email address and password when you clicked on bogus youtube link.
If you did, then that's how the hacker got your password. If you change your password, they will no longer be able to access your facebook account.
Unless you actually download any software from the bogus youtube site, then you won't have got a trojan from this. However you should do a scan with Malwarebytes Antimalware anyway just in case you have any malware in your system. |

@suzi: It looks like AVG and Antimalwarebyte aren't able to remove all the malwares... Is it better to reformat my computer, also to prevent reinfection??
I'm pretty angry about the hacker making fake posts in my name, plus, my computer is only 3 months old.
It's my fault to click on the link, but can I report this incident to the police? (Will they care to do an investigation?).
I have no proof because the hacker had deleted her post with the bogus link in the fan club [ Now thinking about it, I should've taken a screencap of her post ]. The only thing people can see now is the posts she made with MY account (can IP and identity be traced from these posts?)
@roger_m: No, it didn't ask for my password. When I clicked the link, it loaded the .exe file to my comp. (even when I clicked "cancel", the .exe file still loaded). |

What do you mean when they say they aren't able to remove all malwares?
Do you think you are still infected? |

| Each time I scanned with a different software, I found more viruses. And I think the infection makes HJT to pause and give me an error message (then it resumes running). |
