Well, given the roller coaster Yahoo's been riding, this comes as no surprise:

But as I don't have my own web server (yet) and am loathe to take up disk space and bandwith on buddies' boxen (despite the many generous offers), I am left casting about for a decent free web hosting service to which I can migrate my "silly stuff" (and when I say silly, I ain't kidding... http://www.geocities.com/redoakranch.rm/teaser5.htm ).

I figured some of the folks here might be able to recommend some place(s) that won't drop adware/spyware all over visitors who haven't armour plated their computers, and don't blast huge blinking banners announcing "YOU ARE AN INSTANT WINNER!!!". I understand and have no quibbles about the need to generate revenue, but I prefer a bit of good taste and moderation.

In my very first sweep I came across these guys,

but the huge blinking banner that hit my screen was a bit of a put off, even if they are true to their claim that they don't litter their users' pages with more of the same...I know snap judgments aren't a good thing, but then again first impressions are lasting ones.

I've been using Freehostia.com for a few years, seems pretty good, no ads or minimal.
Checkout rallyshotz-nz.freehostia.com.
Haven't been able to exceed the limits on it yet.
