|
|
I just started using the Free Zone Alarm firewall. I've got it setup so all my programs can access the internet (although still cant access other computers on my network or them to me), but everyone once and awhile ( every 36 hours about ) My internet connection just dies. It's dead in the water for at least 2 - 3 minutes and it's only happened since I had Zone Alarm...
Is this a setting? is it normal? Has anyone else experienced this problem because its VERY annoying and VERY unpredictable. _________________ You've Been Deleted

Hi DeleterFX,
I don’t have a good answer for you I can only share my similar experience. I run the free ZoneAlarm on my servers at home. (Let me rephrase that to I have tried.) When I run it on the ICS server it shuts down all network and internet traffic except from the ICS server. It can get to both the internet and local network, but none of the other PCs. When I run it on the secondary server it works fine, but I can’t always see the rest of the network in Network Neighborhood. Although, I can still map a drive to the different PCs and they to me. Reducing the local intranet zone to minimum security helped for a while, but didn’t last.
I demo’d the Pro version and didn’t have any problems with it. Even though I didn’t try it on the ICS server I expect it would have worked. Infer from that what you will, for me it was a bit upsetting. I have found ZoneAlarm to be a very good product on stand alone systems, but it becomes a bit Psychotic in a local network environment. It doesn’t seem to handle “Duality” very well.
With our Lord's blessings,
Doug |

hello
the newest zone alarm is a resource hog on some computers. do a google and see if you can find a slightly older one to install in the newest zaps place.
i beleave oldversion.com has them.
the trusted ethernet zone should be at medium. _________________ RFID tags! SPYWARE

hello all!
If you have Zone Alarm version 5 (the latest upgrade) a visit to the ZA user forum http://forums.zonelabs.com/zonelabs makes very depressing reading!
Incompatibility, crashes, BSODs, error messages.....
I just have a problem with it not recognising AVG, but I'm waiting for something really bad to happen!
